Sad, but true

I saw this while walking around the Delmar Loop in St. Louis, MO. I had to grab a picture of it because it is so true!! :(

I've been knitting, but that is of no consequence as my progress has been minimal. I am very close to finishing my Swallowtail Shawl. Hopefully within the next week or two I will have it off the needles and ready to block. I'd like to wear it to a friend's wedding which is coming up very VERY soon! :)

A not so informative FO post

I have finished Max's scarf, knit from my handspun yarn!

Isn't it fab? 100% Merino in a wonderful colorway called "Tigerlily." Swoon.

Introducing....

...the newest member of the Khailo clan: Matilda.

She's totally giving you the stink eye right now. I have a super adorable picture of her sleeping, but I'm not even going to bother showing it to you. She's a little fireball!! It wouldn't be representative! She's a Maltipoo!! And full of energy!! Her birthday was January 4th, so she's still just a little bug. She will end up weighing anywhere from 5-10 lbs. I'm hoping--of course--for the lighter end of that spectrum, but you get what you get. I've wanted a dog for a good nine years now and she is so sweet. The cats aren't too pleased with her, but they don't pick on her or anything, which is a good sign. They are just kind of chillin' on the couch and ottoman and minding their own business, as cats are want to do. I'm sure in time, she will be able to snuggle up next to George, he's such a lover. Moscow will take more time to adjust, I'm sure, but it will happen.

Now, I will be run completely ragged following this tiny rascal around the house all day and starting the potty training process. I've helped potty train puppies in the past, but I've never done it completely on my own. So far, so good. :) Tips and encouragement will be much appreciated!

I am happy as can be. :)

Not much knitting going on. Max started his new job today and I wanted to have his scarf finished over the weekend, but stuff got crazy...and we now have a puppy, so there is less time to work on knitting "stuff." It will be done within the next few days, however. He needs to be able to get some use out of it before it warms up too much. Also, the yarn for my mother's shirt arrived and the color is just PERFECT for her. It's the same sunny yellow that is in her kitchen (walls, kitchen aid appliances, table, accents...don't worry, though, it isn't tacky, lol). I'm really excited to get started, but probably won't get a chance till this weekend.

All right, fine. I'll show you the sleeping Matilda photo.

Enjoy your afternoon. lol

Because I'm a Grown-Up, Dammit...

...and I can have as many WIPs as I want!

Lace Ribbon Scarf by Veronik Avery.

OK...so I loved this scarf at first sight and then I learned that it was designed by Veronik and said, "Yeah...ok...no wonder. She's amazing." I've finally found a use for my turquoise Hill Country Yarns sock yarn! The pattern reminds me of water and this yarn is a perfect fit! HAPPY! I'd also like to say that the yardage on this skein of yarn is pretty incredible. Check out The Most Mega-est Yarn Cake:

Yeah, I wasn't kidding. :)

Pretty Pretty Pinki-poo

I've started a new WIP:

For those of you who did not read this blog when I started it, I once tried to knit this shrug before and half-way through realized that I was purling "wrong" and twisting my stitches on the purl side. I just couldn't continue working on it after that and ripped it out, vowing to start it again (without the twisted stitches) someday in the future. Well, that day has finally come and I'm pleased to say that it is working out quite nicely. :)

In other happy news, I have a Butterfly Girl Designs drop spindle on reserve!! I have been oogling her spindles for quite some time, but this new bunch she is selling is absolutely TO DIE FOR. I couldn't resist. I will be officially ordering it on Saturday!! Once it arrives, I will be one happy spindler!

Also, I'm frogging my mom's sweater. Instead I am knitting her a cute button placket t-shirt from the latest KnitSimple...in a nice buttery yellow Shine Sport from Knitpicks. As soon as the yarn arrives (I'm hoping it's a good fit for the pattern...we will have to wait and see), I will get crackin' on it. It's a short sleeve number, so I'm not worried about finishing it by the end of March anymore. lol That was kind of a crazy idea anyway, but a little crazy never hurt anyone. I can't wait to get started on it, as it is completely adorable (I mean seriously, It has PICOT EDGES and cap sleeves!!!!). I may even knit one for myself later if I like it enough!

Urchin

I have an FO to show you:

Urchin hat! I made some modifications. I knit 10 short row sections instead of the 8 specified in the pattern for more poof. Also, it was missing something in the cute department, so I added an adorable pom pom. I really love it and it is my favorite color! PINK!

Oh, I got a haircut:
